SOLUTION

The display typeface 'Oily' was constructed from the thought of how oil and water repels each other, wanted to explore how a typeface could be constructed looking both liquid and having movement, but at the same time being readable.
With this in mind i created a complex typeface with high contrast and an organic feel to it. I have deliberately incorporated a feeling of disconnected areas in many of my letter to mimic the way oil and water repels each other.
In my typeface it was important to get a liquid feeling, but still have the letters follow the same guidelines such as contrast, x-height, disconnected areas etc. to create a streamline typeface that fits into the same family.
